12 TV Series to Watch on Netflix, HBO Max and Disney+ in 2022

Many TV movies and shows had to be moved from the previous year to 2022. The waiting time is over. OTT platforms such as Netflix, Amazon Prime and Disney+ have new shows and season finales to keep you hooked to your TV.

We have made it easy by compiling a list TV shows that you should watch in 2022. Here’s a preview of what you can expect. There are no spoilers!

You can now block your calendar, refresh you watch list, and stock up on snacks because it is time to binge-watch the top series as soon as they are available on your TV.

House of the Dragon season 1

House Of The Dragon, set two centuries before the GOT events took place, is a prequel to the story of House Targaryen. Based on George R.R. Martin’s book Fire and Blood. Ryan Condal and Miguel Sapochnik created the series. Clare Kilner and Geeta Vatel are the show’s directors.

House of the Dragon stars Paddy Considine as King Viserys Targaryen and Matt Smith as Prince Daemon Targaryen. The younger brother of King Viserys Targaryen is Matt Smith. Emma D’Arcy plays Rhaenyra Targaryen.

Jefferson Hall, Steve Toussaint and Eve Best are just a few of the notable characters in this series. They will also have an irreversible effect on Westeros, King’s Landing, and Sonoya Mzuno.

Although HBO has not yet set a premiere date, the series has been a huge wait and it is now one of the most important TV shows of 2022.

Peaky Blinders season 6

The official summary of Peaky Blinders is: “A notorious Gang in 1919 Birmingham, England is led by Tommy Shelby, a criminal boss who wants to move up in the world regardless of the cost.”

The series’ makers have announced that the final season of the series, which aired for nearly two years, will be released in early 2022. Anthony Byrne, the director and creator of the series, revealed that the first episode will be called “Black Day” while speaking with Digital Spy. BBC released a teaser that shows Thomas Shelby’s sister Ada saying “Take a look Tom, one of us won’t be here for very long.”

The cast for the final season will undergo some changes. Helen McCrory will not reprise her role as Shelby’s aunt Polly Gray in the final season. McCory died in April 2021 following a long battle with cancer. Charlie Murphy, the actress, has confirmed that she will not play Jessie Eden, the real-life union leader. Rebecca Keatley, Stephen Graham, and Amber Anderson are some of the new faces. Their roles have not yet been revealed.

In the roles of earlier characters, you will see Thomas Shelby (Cillian Murphy), Arthur Shelby(Paul Anderson), Ada Shelby and Michael Gray (Finn Cole).

The Lord of the Rings season 1

The Lord Of The Rings Trilogy was created by Peter Jackson. It breathed life into the Tolkien novels of the same name. The makers have made a major announcement after securing 15 Academy Awards.

Amazon Prime Video will release a multi-season TV series that is based on the novel on September 2, 2022. The best part is that the series will take place at the original New Zealand locations where Jackson shot his films.

Amazon Studios describes the film as “epic drama” that takes place thousands of years prior to the events of J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit, and The Lord of the Rings will transport viewers to an era when great powers were created, kingdoms rose and fell to ruin and unlikely heroes were tested. Hope hung by the finest of threads and the greatest villain Tolkien could threaten to completely cover the globe in darkness

The cast includes Cynthia Addai Robinson and Robert Aramayo as well as Owain Arthur and Maxim Baldry.

Ozark season 4

Ozark is a series about a financial advisor who drags his family from Chicago into the Missouri Ozarks. He must then launder $500 million within five years to please a drug boss.

Three Emmy Awards were won for the series: Jason Bateman was honored with an Emmy for Outstanding Direction for a Drama Series and Julia Garner was presented with Outstanding Supporting Actress for 2019 and 2020.

Season 3 ended with viewers left with many questions about Ben’s death, Darlene’s intentions and other issues. The final season premieres on 21 January.

Alfonso Herrera will play Javi Elizonndro, while Adam Rothenberg will portray Mel Sattem. Felix Solis (Omar Navarro), and Damian Young, (Jim Rettelsdorf) are just a few of the characters who will be reprising their roles.

Season 4 of Stranger Things

Season 3 ended with a cliffhanger. The trailer for Stranger Things season 4 shows Mike reading Eleven’s letter. She states that she is finally adapting to her new life in California, and has made many close friends. But that is far from the truth.

Eleven looks forward to spending spring break with Mike. The following scenes, which include explosions, creepy dolls, and chaos, prove otherwise.

Millie Bobby Brown and Finn Wolfhard reprise their roles from previous seasons.

Robert Englund and Eduardo Franco are now cast in prominent roles. Sherman Augustus, Mason Dye, Jamie Campbell Bower are also new cast members.

The Crown season 5

The Emmy-winning TV series The Crown offers a glimpse into Queen Elizabeth II’s reign as British monarch. The show’s fourth season has been a success and the fifth installment is in development.

Season 5 of The Crown, which is reportedly a series that covers the events of 1990s including speculations about Princess Diana’s death in 1997, and the general election in the same year, is one of Netflix’s most anticipated shows. The streaming platform has confirmed that the fifth season won’t be the last and will be followed up by another.

The fifth season will feature new actors playing prominent characters, just like the previous seasons. Jonathan Pryce and Imelda Staunton will take on the roles of Prince Philip and Queen Elizabeth II. Dominic West will portray the roles of Prince Charles and Lady Diana, while Elizabeth Debicki will play the part of Lady Diana.

Bridgerton season 2

Shonda Rhimes, the creative head of the show, stated to Variety in November 2021, that there were eight Bridgerton siblings and that eight Bridgerton seasons are her favorite.

Netflix released the next season of the series in January. It was published in a gossip pamphlet by Lady Whistledown. The story will focus on Lord Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey), the oldest of eight Bridgerton children. According to reports, the new season will be based on Julia Quinn’s second book The Viscount Who loved Me. It will feature Anthony looking for love while he refuses marriage for duty. Simone Ashley, Anthony’s love interest, will play the role of Kate Sharma in the series.

Rege-Jean Page won’t be playing the Duke of Hastings, although most of the cast will reprise their roles. Charitha Chandran will play Kate’s sister, while Shelley Conn will portray Lady Mary Sharma.

The first season was about Daphne Bridgerton (Phoebe Dynevor), Simon Bassett, and Rege-Jean Page, the Duke of Hasting’s love story.

Obi Wan Kenobi season 1

Wars lovers, rejoice! The original film proposal was to be a feature-length film. It will soon become a series on Disney+, which will air in 2022. The story starts a decade after Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith. This is where Obi-Wan Kenneobi learned about Anakin Skywalker’s corrupt ways that made him into Darth vader.

While not much information is available about the plot, Deborah Chow, the director, hinted that the series would enter a dark period, which will include keeping baby Luke safe.

This new series will feature many familiar faces, as well as some new additions to Star Wars’ family. Hayden Christensen will play Darth Vader. Indira Varma will play Tia, Maya Erskine, and Moses Ingram.

The Boys season 3

The Boys returns to Amazon Prime Video following a successful second season. In February 2021, Eric Kripke, series creator, shared a few photos to announce that filming for the third season had started. A September video showing the cast indicating that production was over was shared on Twitter.

EW reports that the “big twist” in season 2’s finale will lead to season 3’s main plot. Kripke said, “I don’t want to reveal too much because there’s a mystery in season 3 as to why Victoria is doing the things she is doing.” The show’s overall theme is that you must have healthy suspicion about authority figures. This applies to all of them.

The cast includes Billy Butcher, Hughie Campbell (Jack Quaid), Kimiko Hiyashiro and Annie January (Erin Moriarty), who reprise their roles from earlier episodes. The show will feature Jensen Ackles, Supernatural star and Laurie Holden, The Walking Dead actor as Crimson Countess. The third season will premiere in summer 2022, although the release date has not been revealed.

Inventing Anna season 1

Another big Shonda Rhimes release is the Netflix series Inventing Anna. It will premiere on February 11. Rhimes was inspired to make the series after reading an article in The Cut entitled, “How Anna Delvey Tricked New York’s Party People”.

According to the official Netflix synopsis, “An investigative journalist tracks down Anna Delvey’s story, which convinced New York’s elite that she was a German heiress.”

The pandemic caused the filming to be halted for over a year, even though it began in 2019.

Ozark’s Julia Garner will play the title role. Veep’s Anna Chlumsky, however, will play Vivian. Laverne cox will play Kacy Duke, a celebrity trainer/life coach. Succession’s Arian moayed will play the role of Delvey’s lawyer. In other roles, Alexis Floyd and Jennifer Esposito will be joined by Alexis Floyd, Jennifer Esposito as well as Jeff Perry, Terry Kinney, Anna Deavere Smith and Anna Deavere Smith.

Secret Invasion season 1

The highly anticipated Marvel TV series is a must-see. Secret Invasion, which will be released on Disney+, is based upon the Marvel comic of that name. According to reports, the series may be a sequel of the 2019 films Captain Marvel & Spiderman: Far From Home.

Secret Invasion is a six-episode series that will feature Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury and Cobie Smulders playing Maria Hill. Ben Mendelsohn plays Talos. Kingsley Ben-Adir, Olivia Colman and Carmen Ejogo join the cast as unnamed characters.

Andrew W. Marlowe adapted Jim Starenko’s comics Nick Fury Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. to create the script for Secret Invasion. S.H.I.E.L.D. Before Jackson was cast as Nick Fury in the Marvel Cinematic Universe film, Helicarrier was also cast. Marlowe later stated that the script could be ‘tweaked” to include Jackson’s character. Following which Kyle Bradstreet was hired to write and executive producer the series with Nick Fury, according to Variety’s 2020 report.

A specific premiere date for 2022 has yet to be announced.

After Life season 3

The beloved dark-comedy series on Netflix is back with season 3. Official release date has been set for January 14, 2022. Ricky Gervais will play the role of Tony Johnson, a journalist.

Tony will be following his journey to rebuild his life after the death of his wife to breast cancer. Season 2 shows him dealing with the death of his father (David Bradley). Tony is also going through a difficult time in his career as he tries to save his relationship and with Emma, his father’s nurse.

The second season aired April 2020. After one year of filming, we are looking forward to the final season. Tony’s cute German Shepherd will be featured in it.
