Although Season 2 of Bridgerton, the Netflix hit series, has dropped less than a month ago but it is still influencing fashion. The fictionalized Regency Era lifestyle has made staples such as corset tops, empire waist dresses and opera gloves a top priority on our wardrobe wish lists. According to data from Nasty Gal there has been a 509 (!!!) percent increase in the demand for Regency period fashion or pieces that are inspired by it.

We’re here to help you dress up like Kate, Daphne or the Featherington girls. We hope Lady Whistledown approves.

1. PUFF SLEEVES

The Bridgerton family is known for their puff sleeves dresses, which were one of the most popular styles during the Regency period (1825-1825). The 2022 version has a slightly larger poof and longer sleeves. These can be used on tops as well as dresses. Searches for each are up to 32% and 22%, respectively. You can also choose from a square or sweetheart neckline. If you want to be more modern, slide those puffs down to get a sleeker off-the-shoulder look.

Shop the trend:

Staud Papaya Top ($185), Faithfull the Brand Vendita Minidress ($179), Tanya Taylor Aliyah Top ($295), Eloquii Puff Sleeve Dress ($32), English Factory Puff Sleeve Top ($80), Endless Summer Ain’t She A Beautiful Midi Dress ($118).

2. EMPIRE WAISTLINES

Empire waists, which cinch below the bust and then flow down from there, aren’t the best silhouette for larger boobs. Modern versions of the trend reduce that line by a few inches. It still touches right above your natural waist but will not be mistaken for a maternity dress. For Regency-inspired vibes, choose something with a square neckline or puff sleeves. We prefer a mini or midi hemline over a maxi-length gown to show off the stems and not look too formal.

Shop the trend:

The L*Space Zuri Dress ($165), Peony Dress for Free People ($148), Pilcro Flutter-Sleeve Dress ($160), Banana Republic Ramie dress ($200), Current Air Ruffled Dress ($170), Alice + Olivia Rosalyn Dress ($595).

3. PEARL JEWELRY

Season two of Viscountess Bridgerton features a lot of footage with Antony debating when and if to present Edwina’s pearl engagement rings. We also see Daphne’s ring, which is a set made of pearls that look like flowers. Pearlcore fever is easily attributed to the addition of delicate pearl earrings and pearl embellishments on clothes. This trend will be fashionable in 2022. However, there are many ways to wear it. Fashion-forward options include mixing white stone with more edgy styles such as chain links or mixed metals or choosing misshapen Baroque pearls instead of perfect spheres.

Monica Vinader Keshi Pearl Earrings ($185), Maui Divers Jewelry Pearl Cluster Ring ($495), Ettika Pearl Drop Earrings ($35), Missoma Harris Reed Night Sky Pearl Cocktail Ring ($201), Tuckernuck Pearl Cluster Earrings ($48), Mejuri Pearl Drop Earrings ($78)

4. CORSETS

The actresses have admitted that they wore corsets made in the period during filming. However, we don’t see the undergarment very often. Even the structured busts of the dresses are flattering, and we love their bustier style. To combine these two trends, a slimmed-waist top can be worn with loose jeans to create a cool weekend-ready outfit.

Shop the trend:

Tobi Love Maze Bustier ($38), Top made of Good American Cotton Poplin ($69), ASTR the Label Clairemont Top ($98), Reformation Sorrento Top ($128), Staud Alice Linen Top ($235), Trendoyl Corset Top ($43)

5. HEADBANDS

These aren’t the super-puff headbands inspired by Blair Waldorf from a few decades ago. The Bridgerton version features a more modern take on the tiara, with a slimmer silhouette and lots of embellishments. You don’t need to add one to an updo like Edwina’s elegant look. Keep it simple and let all the detail shine through. Wear your headband either with your hair down, or in a simple low bun. If you feel the need to dress up, add some statement earrings to the mix.
