It can be difficult to let go of a favorite TV series or its characters after it ends. Friends and Seinfeld are two examples of how a great TV series can stay with you. Some shows may have to be relegated, while others can get a fresh start with a revival or reboot.

Eight years after its original run, Gossip Girl got a new series that aired on HBO Max. The series focused on the adventures of a group of teenagers who were studying at a New York school for private students. It also explored how they used social media to share gossip and gather information about one another.

These remakes capture the imagination of audiences and have been praised by critics. They not only make you want more, but they also reinforce your love for original shows.

True blood

HBO is currently working on a True Blood (2008 – 2014) reboot. However, it isn’t clear if any of the original cast members will be returning to reprise their roles. The plot details of the new series are not known.

The original series was based upon Charlaine Harris’ novel series The Southern Vampire Mysteries. It lasted seven seasons and won a Golden Globe as well as an Emmy.

The story revolved around Sookie Stackhouse, an Anna Paquin-voiced waitress who is telepathic and lives in Bon Temps (a fictional rural Louisiana town). The lead roles were played by Stephen Moyer and Alexander Skarsgard as well as Rutina Wesley (Rutina Wesley), Sam Trammell, Ryan Kwanten and Chris Bauer.

Bel-Air

The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air (1990-1996) was an NBC sitcom that followed Will Smith’s journey from Philadelphia to Bel Air, where he moved in with his aunt, uncle, and other relatives.

This sitcom was inspired by Smith’s own life and paved the way to Morgan Cooper’s short film Bel-Air (2018), where the director offered his dramatic interpretation of Smith’s story.

The 2019 short film will be remade as Bel-Air. Jabari banks, a newcomer to the series, will play Will — a Philadelphian trying to find his way through Bel Air. Banks will be joined by Adrian Holmes, Cassandra Freeman and Olly Sholotan. Also, Coco Jones, Jimmy Akingbola. Jordan L. Jones. Simone Joy Jones.

Bel-Air will begin streaming on Peacock starting 13 February 2022.

How I Met Your Father

Originally aired on CBS, How I Met Your Mother (2005-2014), centers around Ted Mosby (Josh Radnor), who “recounts to the children the events that lead him to meet his mother.”

The spin-off, How I Met Your Father (Sophie Duff), will feature Sophie (Hilary Duff), who will share with her son the story about how she fell for his father. Hulu will debut the 10-episode series on 18 January.

According to Deadline, “The story begins in 2021, where Sophie and her close-knit friends are in the middle of figuring who they are, their goals in life, and how they can fall in love in an age of dating apps, limitless options, and endless possibilities.”

Other cast members include Francia Raisa and Kim Cattrall as well as Christopher Lowell, Christopher Lowell (Tien Tran), Josh Peck, Ashley Reyes and Suraj Sharma.

Frasier

Frasier (1993-2004), a sitcom spun-off from TV series Cheers, is getting a revival. It will be released in 2022.

CBS Studios will produce the revival series in association with Grammnet Productions. It will also be streamed live on Paramount+ Grammer spoke candidly to NBC 4 in New York, saying that although little is known about the show’s plot, he believes it will be set in Seattle. He also said that his character is “rich beyond what he dreams”.

Deadline reports that Grammer will be reprising his role. However, it is not yet known if the other original cast members will be returning to the 2022 series.

The 1993 sitcom revolved around radio psychiatrist-cum-radio host Dr Frasier Crane (Kelsey Grammer), who returns to his hometown Seattle.

Pretty Little Liars

Pretty Little Liars (2010-2017) was first aired on Freeform. It follows a group high school girls who are confronted by an anonymous enemy that threatens to reveal their darkest secrets. The series aired seven seasons and featured Lucy Hale and Shay Mitchell as well as Troian Bellisario and Ashley Benson, and Sasha Pieterse.

Pretty Little Liars (2010-2017), is ready for a third spinoff — Ravenswood (2013), Pretty Little Liars The Perfectionists (2019), being the first two — Pretty Little Liars Original Sin will air on HBO Max 2022.

Bailee Madison and Maia Reficco will play pivotal roles in the reboot series.

US Weekly reported on the plot of the reboot. “In the dark coming-of-age drama Pretty Little Liars Original Sin, we find our selves miles from Rosewood but within the existing Pretty Little Liars universe — a brand new town with a new generation Little Liars.”

House of the Dragon

In 2022, HBO Max will air this Game of Thrones (GoT), spin-off. It will be a return to Westeros, and it is three centuries older than the original series. House of the Dragon will tell the story of the Targaryen family. It is one of six GoT-based prequels currently in development.

The cast includes Matt Smith as Prince Daemon Targaryen and Emma D’Arcy, Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen and Steve Toussaint, Lord Corlys Velaryon and Olivia Cooke, as well as Rhys Ifans, as Otto Hightower.

George R.R. Martin, the author of the GoT books will be an executive producer in this prequel.

Bedrock

Fox Network announced in April 2021 that it is working on a reboot for the animated sitcom The Flintstones (1960-1966). The new series, Bedrock, will be launched 20 years after the end of the original series.

The series centers on the lives of Fred Flintstone and the Rubble families. His daughter Pebbles is now in her 20s and is ready to begin her career. The series will also show a transition from Stone Age, where the original show was set, to the Bronze Age.

Elizabeth Banks, actress, will play Pebbles Flintstone’s role as the executive producer for the prime-time animated comedy series.
