Acne Nutrition: This Diet will Reduce Acne

Acne is the most common skin condition. It can affect teenagers, adults, and the elderly. Although there are many factors that can cause acne, the most common ones are excessive sebum, hormonal imbalance, and bacteria. The skin and your diet are both factors that affect the health of your body. Acne is most common in areas of the body with sebaceous glands. Hormones can affect sebaceous glands, which are oil-producing glands. Acne can appear on the neck, back, and chest.

We spoke to Sanjay Kumar Mishra (Chief Dietician, Paras Hospital, Patna) about nutrition and diet for acne.

Acne foods and drinks

Acne is the most common skin condition, which usually develops as a teenager, but can also persist into adulthood. Some people experience it throughout their lives. Your diet can have a significant impact on the severity of your acne. As per Dt. Sanjay suggests these 5 foods and beverages to help reduce your acne.

1. Green vegetables

A healthy skin can be achieved by eating green vegetables like spinach, lettuce, cucumber, and kale. Many vitamins, minerals, and carbohydrates found in green vegetables are great for your skin.

2. Fruits

Certain vitamins and antioxidants found in fruits can help reduce acne and improve skin health. Skin inflammation caused by acne can be treated with fruits like oranges, blueberries and papaya. A variety of fruits and vegetables can be easily added to your diet.

3. Nuts and seeds

It is good for your skin and physical health to eat a few nuts and seeds each day. Vitamin E and selenium deficiencies are the most common causes of acne. Peanuts and almonds can help to replenish these nutrients. You can eat seeds such as chia, flax, sunflower, and pumpkin seeds in the morning.

4. Avocado

Vitamin E is essential for our skin and we must provide it with vitamin E rich foods. Avocado is rich in both nutrients and good for skin. Avocado can help you heal your skin quickly. It can be used to treat and prevent acne.

5. Tomato soup

Tomatoes can also be used to reduce the appearance of acne. It is rich in vitamin A, C and K, as well as acidic properties, which can be used to reduce and remove acne. To get the best results, you need to apply the tomato pulp to your face and then rinse it off after about 10-15 minutes. It can be added to your diet as tomato soup, and you can eat a bowl at night.

Reduce acne with a diet plan
  • Make bed tea with a fiber-rich biscuit and tea
  • Breakfast (complex carbohydrates): Oat meal, quick flakes and corn flakes. Whole wheat flour chapatti with curd, egg white, and daliya
  • Lunch: Whole wheat chapatti, phalguna rice, whole pulses like rajma or chane-ki sabzi and green vegetables. Fish is also an option, it’s better than meat and there are plenty of salads.
  • Dinner: Chapatti, dal, green vegetables, and salad

BONUS TIP – Drink lots of water throughout the day to combat the problem of acne, but not after or during eating. Get your water before you eat.
