Cardi B reveals her “secret vegetable water”

A day after asking viewers to guess her secret ingredient in her hair tonic, “Bodak Yellow,” the rapper revealed the mystery vegetable that we have all been waiting for: onions. Cardi B has used onion water to her hair.

The secret was shared by her via an Instagram post that featured a photo of her thick, waist-length locks from the back. She explained that she boils onions, then uses the water to wash her hair. She explained that this was an old trick she used to give her hair shine. We’re not the only ones curious about her hair’s scent. Cardi B says that the answer is not really clear. Cardi B shows off inches upon inches straight, silky hair. This Rapunzel-esque style, however, is not one that Tokyo Stylez installed on Cardi’s hair. It’s Cardi herself, and she has a secret ingredient that she uses to maintain it.

The Bronx-bred rapper shared a Tiktok clip on August 10 showing off her huge mane. Viewers can see 360 degrees of her thick, texture hair, which is about the length of her waist. It looks almost like she has lightly blow-dried it. She walks off camera and returns with straightened, sleek hair that falls past her hips.

She revealed in her caption that she used a “secret vegetable oil” on her hair, and challenged fans to guess the vegetable. One hint she offers is that she used it in a hair tutorial six years ago. We were unable to identify the vegetable despite our journalistic efforts. However, we do have some good guesses.

If you are a member of the Bardi Gang you will know that she loves to make hair masks with ingredients from her kitchen cabinets and share them with her fans. Castor, coconut, olive and argan oils have been used in her hair treatments in the past. We’re willing to wager that one of these ingredients is in this water. Castor oil or olive oil are our bets.

We don’t know when she’ll reveal the secret formula, but we will wait as long as she shows us more of her hair beneath all the lace.
