Celebrity Make-up Artists Revealed Winter’s Biggest Trends
29.10.2021Winter is a season that brings out many of your favourite things, including new coats, warm beverages and snuggling in front of the fireplace. It’s a season full of exciting and bold makeup trends, if you are like us and love makeup. There are many options for winter makeup, including bold lips for holiday parties, blush-forward looks for white elephant exchanges, and sparkly smoky eyes for New Years Eve.
Renee Loiz (founder of Color May Vary), says this winter is all about bringing back Y2K and the ’90s trends. Loiz and Jen Tioseco, a celebrity makeup artist, gave us their insider tips on winter makeup. Continue reading to learn the latest trends and how you can recreate them yourself before anyone else.
1. Blush Draped
Tioseco says, “I think we’re going see a lot draped blush this Winter.” Although the technique of applying blush to your cheeks or temples isn’t new to editorial beauty, it’s something that mainstream beauty should embrace.
2. Metallic Eyes
For a subtle shimmer, use rich metallic washes of color on your lids. “A silver wash is my favorite for an icy, cool effect. Tioseco said that Pat Mcgrath Mothership palettes have been my go-to for such looks.”
3. Wine-Stained Lips
Tioseco predicts that Burgundy will make its usual appearance this winter. “A bold statement lip is what I love the most to make a statement at Christmas parties. Chanel Rouge Coco Flash in Noir Modern by Chanel is striking and yet hydrating.”
4. Embellished Eyes
It’s all about the eyes, clean and fresh skin, even though we still have to wear masks. You can still focus on the eyes, but you can also have fun playing with textures and colors. Loiz suggests using glitter eyeliners or glitter shadows, and adding pearls and crystals as accents to the eyes.
5. Icy Shadow
This winter, experimentation will be huge. Tioseco says that the 2000s are still making an impressive comeback. So expect to see some frosty shadows.
6. Matte Lips
You can also try bold matte lips if gloss is not your style. Loiz says that the matte ’90s lips will become big thanks to satin-matte lipsticks in cranberry and blackberry shades, as well as burgundy shades.
7. Heavy Liner
Grunge is experiencing a revival right now. Tioseco suggests including the rock-star trend into your makeup routine by using “angsty grunge” eyeliner with barely there skin.
8. Glossy Lips
Before you go anywhere, make sure to coat your lips with Lancome Juicy Tubs. It might be a good idea to stock up on gloss once again. This winter, ultra-glossy lips are going to be all the rage.
9. Fluffy Brows
While brows remain the main focus of the show’s episodes, this season Loiz suggests a more natural approach to your arches. Loiz said that you can expect to see lots of “full, fluffy brows” and not too drawn. Brow gel and pencils will be your best friends.
10. Glowy Cheeks
Loiz says that we will be seeing “soft, romantic blush colors to keep skin looking young and healthy,” and “touches cream highlighter pressed into the cheekbones to give dimension.” To look flawless, choose shades that enhance the natural glow of your skin.
