Take a Glass of Wine and Watch These Amazing Movies
21.06.2022The vibes are changing. They are changing times and there is an ineffable energy that reinvention brings to the air. This makes everything difficult and elusive. This is to say that everything feels weird and I don’t know how to act. It’s almost as if we are still trying to figure out how to navigate the post-pandemic (sort of) landscape. There has been so much change in the last two years, that there is no “normal.” The world and we are both completely different. Many of our routines and familiar structures are still being lost.
Some people feel unnatural and alienated when they return to work full-time. You’re saying that we must commute five times per week? Other workplaces have begun to embrace the culture shift, moving to a four-day work week and a hybrid office setup, which allows for more remote options. This is part of an effort to retain employees during the Great Resignation. No matter what set-up you have, there is no way to feel right. Everyone is trying to adjust to the situation.
It’s not only our daily lives that are being renegotiated. The cultural landscape is changing. The fashion industry is shifting to a more cohesive direction, with trends prioritizing maximalism over cohesion. What are we wearing now? Anything. Many people have a deep attachment to the nap dresses and sweatsuits of old lockdown days. Some people are creating colorful outfits with splashy patterns and kitschy accessories to make it seem like they have a pulse. With the proliferation of micro-trends, it’s hard to know what’s hot. That’s exactly it. There is no in. We are the only ones doing our best.
If all of that wasn’t enough, celebrity drama provides a wild entertainment element that makes it impossible to escape. Instead of feeling soothed by the predictable behavior my favorite celebrities display, every day brings another jaw-dropping outrage populated with an unpredictable cast.
During the pandemic, wine became my favorite way to relax and indulge. It’s a wonderful treat that can make any evening feel special if you enjoy it in moderation. It doesn’t need to be extravagant or expensive to make your home feel special. Simple things can make your home feel more special.
Instead of drinking the same old wine while watching 90s rom-coms again and again, take some time to relax and really enjoy what you are seeing and what you’re consuming. Enjoy some music, light a candle and spread a blanket on the living room floor. Then, watch something that excites you. You don’t have to act like you’re at a movie theater or in wine country.
To truly enhance the experience, refine your wine. Winc wines allows you to step out of your comfort zone. The subscription-based model allows them to deliver wines that suit your taste buds.
Winc collects data from customers to determine which wines they like. Winc then crafts its own wines and ships them directly to you every month. Their wines range from refreshing, delicious zinfandels to spicy reds and sweet summer roses.
We’ve selected the top films that you can watch with a glass wine to nurture your wine passion. These films are great for relaxing while you sip. Your Winc subscription will allow you to choose the wine of your choice.
These are our top picks for movies to watch on a night out:
Wine Country – Netflix
Wine Country may seem obvious, but it is a good starting point to find movies that will go well with your new wine. This touching story celebrates female friendships in a fresh, honest way. This popular ensemble of comedians is a fan favorite. It allows for both big laughs and genuine emotions. It’s Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, Ana Gasteyer, as well as Paula Pell, Emily Spivey, and Rachel Dratch. What more could you want?
Ibiza: Love Drunk – Netflix
This Netflix rom-com, which is underrated, is a great film to rewatch. It’s low-stakes entertainment that everyone needs. This film is about the type of vacation that can make you believe anything is possible. Although the love interest might be a DJ (which is fine by us), don’t let this deter you. This film is sweet and Richard Madden plays the DJ. So maybe there is hope for EDM DJs.
HBO – The High Note
Tracy Ellis Ross is always my favorite rom-com. I only feel that way when I am half-way through a glass. The High Note is a rom-com that has been acclaimed by many. Stars Dakota Johnson and Kelvin Henry Jr complete the cast. This film is larger than life and takes you from the glamour of private jets and stadiums, to quiet moments in grocery shops and jam sessions in your car. This film brings all the emotions of humanity to your living space.
HBO – Death on the Nile
The need to see films in the theatre has been largely eliminated. Some features are best viewed on the big screen. Others are best enjoyed at home with a glass wine. One of these films is Death on the Nile. This whodunnit does not have a Tenet. If I forget to pour another glass, it will be fine. It is a fun way to spend the night.
Deep Water – Hulu
It’s both a romantic movie and a comedy. Deep Water, a sinister-sexy romantic drama that is both compelling and completely not, feels almost like Gone Girl. Good. This is the ideal medium-intellectual film for your dreams.
Amazon Prime Video – Something’s Gotta Give
Nancy Meyers was my rescuer if no one else could. I love Something’s Gotta Give. It is a favorite thing that I can watch over and over. I just need a glass of wine and a sweater to enjoy a cozy evening with my sisters, Nancy Meyers, and Diane Keaton.
