How to make gray hair look better
What is the most significant difference in makeup for those who choose to go gray?
There is nothing more beautiful than a woman who accepts and embraces the aging process with grace and confidence. Accepting that our hair color and texture will change as we age is part of this process. Many of our Jones Road models have turned to silver because they take better care of their hair and skin.
It is important to keep your skin hydrated. This is especially true as you age. Our skin is dryer. It loses its elasticity, and if it isn’t exfoliated, it begins to look duller as we age. I recommend that you use moisturizer and eye cream every day. Apply it as your first step to your makeup and then reapply before going to bed. Use a good exfoliator at least once per week to remove dead skin cells and let your skin’s natural glow shine through.
You don’t want your skin to look drab. So where is the best place to add color to your daily routine? Is it better to keep your face neutral?
Gray is a great time to experiment with color and add some variety to your makeup. The cheeks and lips are two great places to begin. For a healthy glow to your cheeks, I recommend choosing colors from the rosy pink color family. Pink is my favorite because it works for everyone. It adds the perfect pop to your skin while looking natural. You can see the difference by pinching your cheeks. That’s how natural blush should look. Pink, coral, and rose shades work well with gray hair. Make sure you choose the right shade for your skin.
How can you choose the right lip color for your skin and hair?
Your skin color, not your hair color, should determine the color of your lips. You can wear pink, coral, or rose-colored lips. Choose a lighter shade if you have fair skin. If your skin is darker you can go bolder. If you are going out and want to stand out, you can go bolder with your lips, but keep the eye and cheeks balanced.
What eyeshadow colors go well with gray hair?
To even out the color, I use a neutral shade of eyeshadow and apply it to the entire lid. You can then experiment with adding a darker shade to the lid, up to the crease. Taupe or soft grey look great. To really define your eyes, apply a brown- or black liner to the upper lashline. Finish off your lashes by applying a few coats of black mascara. This will make your eyes stand out against your gorgeous silver hair.
Should you keep the same blush color, or do you want to change it up?
If your hair is darker (or gray), I add some color to your cheeks to make it look more natural. Pink is universally flattering and everyone looks great in it, so I love adding a little pink to the apples of my cheeks. Simply smile, and you will see the apples in your cheeks.
Use a brush to apply powder blush to the apples of your cheeks. Use your fingers to apply tints or balms to your cheeks. Next, follow your cheekbone towards the ear. A tinted balm adds the perfect amount of glow to the cheeks.
Do you need to change your eyebrows if your hair turns gray?
Gray hair can cause gray eyebrows. Some women may not have any gray hairs or have only a few gray stray hairs. You can pluck out gray brows with a good tweezer if you only have a few.
You can comb your eyebrows with a spoolie, and keep them trimmed. Use an eyebrow pencil that matches your brow color. You can fill in your brows by using a pencil. Use a gentle, short stroke to follow the natural contour of your brows. A good brow pencil can make a huge difference in shaping and defining your eyes.
Do older women need to avoid products with glitter or shine?
Women get more sensitive as they age, and tend to avoid anything that sparkles on their lips, cheeks or eyes. I believe that sparkle makes everyone look and feel younger, regardless of their age. You don’t have to be afraid of trying new things. You can experiment with eyeshadows that give your eyes a subtle shimmer, a balm for the cheeks, or a gloss that gives your lips a glossy finish. You can have some fun with it but don’t go crazy. It adds the perfect amount of shimmer to any makeup look. I recommend choosing two spots on your face that you want sparkle.
