It is more difficult to stay healthy after 40, but these are some of the best years in our lives. Here are some healthy tips that will help you feel and look your best.

My children were young and I didn’t feel like I had enough time for my health. I was too busy with my family. My health was not a priority for me.

Because we are empty-nesters now, I have more time for staying healthy. Accept this season and make some lifestyle changes to stay healthy throughout your entire life.

Here are some healthy tips for women over 40

1. Clean eating is key to good health

Healthy eating habits are key to feeling great, staying healthy and looking good in your 40s and beyond. It is important to eat foods rich in antioxidants, vitamins, minerals.

Antioxidants are vitamins and minerals that naturally occur in the body, like Vitamin A, C and E, zinc and lutein. They can help boost your overall health.

By removing impurities, green tea can brighten your complexion.

I try to reduce my sugar intake. This is a challenge for me because I love sweets. I used to eat M&M’s all day, but I now make the energy bites when I feel like something sweet.

2. Get plenty of water

Water is essential for every body function. Water’s health benefits increase with age. They are vital for energy and kidney function.

I drink water throughout my day, although I do drink black coffee in mornings. Sometimes I add Liquid I.V. Hydration Multiplier is a great addition to my water. It tastes amazing!

I stopped drinking diet coke many years ago and now I prefer Zevia cola when I want something fizzy.

3. Exercising regularly

Your metabolism will benefit from just 30 minutes of exercise per day. To exercise, you don’t need to go to a gym. You can find many online workout programs.

As we age, our muscles begin to shrink. To maintain your muscles, you can add weights to your exercise program. Strength training can prevent muscle loss, improve arthritis symptoms, prevent osteoporosis and diabetes, as well as lower the body-fat percentage.

4. Get enough sleep

Sleep is linked to productivity and our eating habits. It is vital to sleep, but it can be difficult to get it as we age.

You can exercise throughout the day to help you relax and get ready for bed at night.

Here are some of the benefits of sleeping:

  1. Reduce your chances of getting sick.
  2. Maintain a healthy weight
  3. Reduce your chances of developing serious health conditions like heart disease and diabetes.
  4. You can reduce stress and improve your mood.

5. Increase your protein intake

I try my best to eat less carbs and more protein. This doesn’t mean that I avoid carbs. However, I do try to limit my intake. Protein helps you feel fuller, increases metabolism, makes you feel fuller, and helps you remain fit as you get older.
