Here are 10 tips to make beautiful eyebrows
29.06.2022Eyes are the window into the soul. The eyebrows will make your peepers shine! Here are 10 eyebrow tips that will help you define and fill in your brows.
1. Make the Right Brow Shape
If you don’t have perfectly shaped eyebrows, then you may need to shape them. You can slow down regrowth and reduce stubble by removing eyebrow hairs from their root. This can be done either threading, plucking, or waxing.
I used to shape my own eyebrows with tweezers many years ago. However, I strongly recommend that you consult a professional who can help you determine the best shape for your brows based on your face and current situation.
If you’re an over-plucker, put away the tweezers. Let your brows grow before shaping them. Microblading is a great option for brows that are very sparse and won’t grow back.
Before you let someone touch your eyebrows, do your research. Ask for photos of past clients’ work and ask them to draw what they will do to your eyebrows before they trim any hair. This will allow you to decide if the shape suits you.
After you have achieved the perfect brow shape, make sure to keep any stray hairs from growing back. This can be done either by yourself or having your eyebrows professionally maintained.
2. Trim Your Brows
Regular brow trimming is a great way keep your brows neat and tidy. Brow trimming can make it easier to apply brow pencils or pomades. It can remove any unwanted hairs or excess thickness.
To keep my eyebrows clean and tidy, I clip my eyebrows every few weeks. This is how I do it:
- I brush my eyebrow hairs up with a spoolie, then use tapered nail cutters to trim along my brows’ top edges to remove any hairs that are too long above my brow line. This is done to follow the shape of my brow.
- (optional step if you have thicker eyebrows) I use my spoolie to brush my hairs down. Next, I use my nail scissors and clip any hairs below my brows. This extra trim really helps thin my brows at the middle, where they grow like thick weeds.
3. Use a Pencil or Pomade to Shape or Fill Brows
You can use a brow pencil to fill in any gaps or areas of your eyebrows that are not as full. Brow pencils can be used quickly to fill in brows and they are very easy to use. A brow pencil with a fine tip is recommended to give you more control over where and how the pencil is applied.
Fine-tip brow pencils such as the L’Oreal Brow Stylist Definer pencil are great for creating a natural look. They can also be used to create hair-like strokes, which look natural and more natural.
Brow pomades can be used to define eyebrows and are often easier than a pencil. Anastasia Beverly Hills’ Dip Brow Pomade is a favorite of mine.
You will need a sharp, angled eyebrowbrush to apply a brow powder (I use the Anastasia Beverly Hills #7B eyebrow brush). Pomades are similar to a brow pencil and can be used to fill in any bare brows. They can also be applied with light strokes to mimic the appearance of individual hairs.
4. Make Your Brow More Definable with A Concealer
You can achieve the “brows on fleek”, super-sharp look on Instagram by using concealer. Use a small flat concealer brush to apply a little concealer on the tip. Then, run the brush along the edges of the brows to smoothen any rough spots.
5. Use a Brow Gel
Brow gels can be a wonderful finishing touch. They work to keep straggly brow hairs in their place. Some gels can be tinted to add colour to the brows, while others can make the brows look thicker (such as Glossier’s Boy Brow).
If your brows are already full and well-shaped, you can skip filling and apply a brow gel. This will enhance the natural shape and texture of your brows.
6. Microblading
For those who want to enhance their eyebrows and fill in areas that aren’t growing back, microblading is an excellent semi-permanent solution. Microblading refers to the process of filling in eyebrows with a skilled professional. This involves tattooing the area and creating individual hairs on the brow area.
Microblading brows, while it may sound scary, can transform your brow shape, and create natural-looking brows.
Microbladed eyebrows can be tattooed directly on to your skin. This means you don’t need to worry about having to wash them off every night or re-do them every morning.
The microbladed eyebrows can fade in a matter of years so it is important to maintain them. Make sure you find a professional who is qualified to do the microblading. Also, take the time to review the work of the professionals and get references.
7. Brow Lamination
This does not mean that you should cover your eyebrows with plastic. Brow lamination, the latest trend in brow styling, involves applying a chemical solution that helps your brows stay straight for fuller looking eyebrows. It’s kind of like a perm to your brows.
Your brows will be brushed upwards, and then a chemical solution will be applied to the top. To hold your hairs up while the solution works its magic, a thin piece of Saran wrap plastic is placed on top.
You will have brows that reach the heavens when it’s over!
8. Brow Tinting
Brow tints can be applied to your eyebrows temporarily to tint them (dye them) a different colour. Brow tinting can be done quickly and easily. Make sure you use the correct brow tint!
NEVER USE BOXED HAIR DIESE to tint your eyebrows. Use of boxed hair dyes near your eyes can lead to blindness.
9. Shape + Hold Brows with Bar Soap
To get your eyebrows straight without lamination, you can dip a spoolie into a bar soap. This will give them a lift. There are many soap brow kits available, such as this one from Revolution Beauty.
10. Condition your Brows
Castor oil, Jojoba oil and coconut oil can be used to create a moisture barrier that keeps the skin moist. This helps promote brow growth.
Before you go to bed, apply your oil of choice to your eyebrows and let it sit for the night.
