Do you know your skin type? Here is a quick tip

You should not use the same products for all skin types. Skincare isn’t like a “one-size fits all”. Every skin type has it’s signs. If you don’t know whether you have combination or oily skin, after reading this article you’ll be more aware. M.A.D Skincare experts explain how to identify your skin type and what the best ways to care for it.

Dry skin

  • Light to moderate flaking or peeling
  • Can be easily irritated

Advice: It is important to choose skin care products that are not harsh or irritating, but moisturize and gently cleanse your skin. It would be good if cleansing gel contains a combination chamomile extract and licorice extract that soothe and calm dry, damaged and irritated skin.

Normal

  • Not too oily or dry
  • Smooth texture
  • Fine pores

Advice: Although you might not notice any signs of aging, it is a good idea to start incorporating a gentle cleanser that contains an alpha-hydroxy in your skin care routine.

Oily

  • Glossy or shiny appearance
  • Pores appear larger
  • More likely to get breakouts

Advice: Look for a cleanser which balances oily skin and keeps pores clean.

Combination

  • Oily in T-zone
  • Dry in cheeks
  • Tends towards breakouts

Advice: Use a cleanser to reduce excess oil. To reduce oil buildup and pores clogging, look for one with salicylic acid. It’s great if it is also contains eight types of amino acids, as well as sodium PCA (lactic acid) and lactic acid. Combining these two ingredients helps to protect the skin from drying and moisturize, which are key components when dealing with combination skin.

Sensitive

  • Redness
  • Irritation
  • Dryness

Advice: Make sure your cleanser is gentle and effective. Dry the skin with a soft towel. Don’t rub the towel on your face.

Mature

  • More fragile
  • Uneven skin tone

Advice: Incorporate an alpha-hydroxy cleanser for exfoliation and a skin conditioning for sensitive skin as well as irritation, redness to improve the appearance of skin’s elasticity.
