Madonna sets another record to impress fans for the decades
09.09.2022Madonna, the unstoppable Queen of Pop isn’t short of material (girls) – her most recent career accomplishment is proof of this.
This icon behind mega hits like Ray of Light and Like a Prayer, is now the only woman to have an album reach the top 10 in the Top 10 in five decades.
It’s not bad for someone who was told by a cheeky guy flashing in the 80s that her career was over before it even began.
After her remix album, Finally Enough Love, reached number 8 on the Billboard 200 Albums Chart, the Vogue singer set a new record.
Madonna’s 1983 debut album was released. Next year will be her 50th anniversary as a pop superstar extraordinaire. She’s still shifting those albums.
Madonna’s remix album did not only chart in the top 10, but she also sold more than 30,000 copies and, taking streaming figures into account, was better than the other top 10.
Madonna’s debut album, in 1983, was her first. She has since released 23 top 10 albums, nine of them reaching number one. Madame X, her most recent chart-topping album with original songs, was released in 2019.
Recently, the Queen of Pop opened up about what motivates and moves her. It was, unsurprisingly, sex.
She called her current obsession “sex”, but her favorite thing to do was “love”. What keeps her going? It’s obvious. “Sex.”
She is now part of a select group of people who have had the top 10 albums for more than five decades. Others have achieved this feat primarily as bands. This list also includes:
- AC/DC
- Def Leppard
- Paul McCartney
- Metallica
- Ozzy Osbourne
- Robert Plant
- Prince
- Bruce Springsteen
- James Taylor
Madonna isn’t slowing down, and recently revealed her dream collaboration with a surprise star and the biopic of her life starring Julia Garner. She might be the first female artist to reach the top 10 albums in six decades.
