Marvel Stars who Dated: Bradley Cooper, Gwyneth Paltrow and Zoe Saldana

Marvel movies don’t have a lot of romantic scenes, but there are some iconic couples that manage to preserve love while saving the world, such as Pepper Potts or Tony Stark.

There have been a few love stories between the TV and film empires, but many of these occurred before the Marvel Cinematic Universe was established. Before Iron Man’s Phase 1 debut in 2008, there were 2003’s Daredevil starring Ben Affleck playing blind hero Matt Murdock.

Although the movie was not a huge success, it was where Argo director Jennifer Garner fell in love with Elektra. Although they first met during 2000’s Pearl Harbor, the Oscar winner later stated that they hadn’t been together until 2002 while they were filming Daredevil.

Playboy of the movie told that “that’s where my wife found me.” They were married for ten years and have three children, Violet, Seraphina, and Samuel.

Before either of them were ever in the comic-book movie, a real-life Marvel couple had met (Scarlett Johansson and Ryan Reynolds). Just three years before she assumed the role of Natasha Romanoff (a.k.a. Black Widow), Scarlett Johansson was first in a relationship with Ryan Reynolds. Ryan Reynolds would become the Marvel antihero Deadpool. They were married from 2008 to 2011.

Reynolds married Blake Lively. He actually met Blake on the set for a comic-book movie called Green Lantern.

“I met Blake at the darkest crease of the universe called Green Lantern,” Free Guy star laughed during a July 2021 episode on “SmartLess.” “We were friends, and we went on a double-date about a year later, but we were still dating separate people.”

Their fate was sealed after they took a train to Boston together. Reynolds was able to see that their friendship could blossom into something bigger when he realized Lively was his partner in crime. He described it as “one of those silly moments from a fairy tale.”

The couple got married in September 2012 after a year of dating. They have three children: Inez, James and Betty. Access spoke out about his children and wife in Canada by the native Canada to Access in November 2020. “So I believe that if I had to face any kind of scary or crazy situation in my life, they would be the first people I turn to because they have wisdom, strength, and are calm when it’s hot.”

After appearing together in Only You in 1994, Iron Man’s star briefly dated Tomei. Later, the My Cousin Vinny actress played Aunt May in Tom Holland Spider-Man films.

In 2015, the WandaVision star was briefly connected to Hiddleston who played Loki’s brother Thor. The MCU shared the screen with the pair, and they also played the roles of husband and wife in the Hank Williams biopic I Saw the Light (2015).

Pratt is best known for his role as Peter Quill (a.k.a. Star-Lord in Guardians of the Galaxy films), Pratt dated VanCamp between 2004 and 2007. They had previously been a brother and sister on the TV show Everwood. The Revenge alum portrays Sharon Carter in the MCU, as the great-niece to Peggy Carter.

Jennifer Connelly and Paul Bettany

Labyrinth’s actress was Betty Ross in 2003’s Hulk. Although technically not part of the MCU, she appeared as Betty Ross. Bettany, who plays Vision has been her husband since January 2003. They have two children together.

Although he doesn’t appear in any Marvel movies as an Oscar nominee, he voices Rocket Racoon, one of the Guardians of the Galaxy. After meeting on the set for The Words, he dated Saldana (who plays Gamora).

From 2005 to 2018, the Alias alum and the Last Duel star were married. Affleck returned to comic books in 2016, playing Batman in Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice.

After meeting on the set Shakespeare in Love, the Deep Water actor was with the founder of Goop from 1997 to 2000. Paltrow portrays Pepper Potts (wife of Tony Stark) in the MCU.

• Scarlett Johansson and Ryan Reynolds

The Lost in Translation actress began dating the future Deadpool actor in 2007 before making her way in Marvel’s world. After two years of marriage, the couple split in December 2010.

• Jessica Biel and Chris Evans

Evans is best known for his role as Captain America. However, his first Marvel movie was 2005’s Fantastic Four in which he played Human Torch. Biel was his first and only girlfriend. He starred in Blade: Trinity from 2001 to 2006.
