Target’s Lego Partnership Is Technicolor’s Best Idea

Target, a big-box retailer, has a long history with high-low designer collaborations. These collaborations offer fashion-forward product mashing-ups at affordable retail prices. They’ve been bringing their low-cost chic to Marimekko and Missoni and Rodarte for the past few decades. More recently, Red Dot Boutique has teamed up again with Lego to create a 300-piece line of toys, gifts, and accessories that are inspired by the iconic Danish toymaker’s primary-hued building blocks. There are many sizes available for both children and adults. The prices range from $1.50 to $120 with most items priced below $30.

The collaboration couldn’t be better for holiday gifting. Even if your giftee is not familiar with Lego’s bright building blocks, the Lego products will appeal to a young audience and make for an enjoyable unwrapping experience. It’s likely that your giftee has been to Lego before. According to the Washington Post Lego is “the largest and most profitable toymaker in the world.” There are growing numbers of AFOLs (that’s Adult Fans Of Lego) who spend hundreds on elaborate sets and share their accomplishments on Instagram, TikTok and Reddit.
