Which smartwatches are best for Android?
Aboutfash has tested many Android-compatible smartwatches. Our current favorite is the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5. The Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 is a stylish, sporty-looking smartwatch that starts at $279. Even though the Galaxy Watch 5 is a compelling WearOS 3 smartwatch, you will need a Samsung phone to access all its features. We’ll see how the Google Pixel Watch compares to the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 when we face the Google Pixel Watch.
The Galaxy Watch 4 will be replaced by the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 (starting from $279) or Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 Pro (449), which offer better battery life and performance as well as a new sensor to measure your skin temperature.
FOSSIL SMARTWATCHES
This list does not include any Fossil smartwatches. We are still waiting to test the Fossil Gen 6 smartwatch, which technically is available right now but it’s worth waiting until it receives the new Wear OS in 2022.
Close behind is the Fitbit Sense for Android at $299.95, which is another premium smartwatch. Google owns Fitbit, so any future Fitbit launches will be running Wear OS, according to both companies. The Sense runs on Fitbit’s trusted platform, which includes popular apps and voice assistants. Fitbit Sense is the smartwatch that gives you the most comprehensive view of your health.
The Fitbit Versa 3 is available for $100 less. The Fitbit Versa 3 was launched in the same time frame as the Fitbit Sense. It has the same 6-day battery and a wide range of fitness tracking features. There are several smartwatches that are affordable and still offer great functionality. We have a list of our top picks.
These are the best smartwatches available today.
1. Samsung Galaxy Watch 5
Overall, the best Android smartwatch
The Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 features a new skin temperature reader, a more scratch-resistant display, and a longer-lasting battery. This is the best Samsung watch ever, as there aren’t many differences between the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 and the Galaxy Watch 4. However, the improvements make this a fantastic device. It’s a great value at just $279.
Although the Galaxy Watch 5’s skin temperature sensor won’t be working at launch, there are many things to love about it. It lasted almost half a day in our testing and charged up to 50% in just 30 minutes from 0%. Wear OS 3 with Samsung’s skin offers more perks, such as Google Assistant and greater interoperability between your other Samsung devices. The Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 Pro offers more GPS features and a longer-lasting battery.
2. Fitbit Sense
This smartwatch is the best Android-compatible option for monitoring your overall health
Based on our experience with Fitbit devices, the Fitbit Sense smartwatch is our favorite. This smartwatch has more advanced health- and wellness features than other Android smartwatches. It has an FDA-approved ECG sensor, blood oxygen reading, and the Sense can also measure electrodermal activity, and skin temperature.
Apart from being a premium device for health tracking, the Sense can also answer calls and make phone calls when tethered with an Android phone. The Sense also features on-board GPS, an app store, Alexa and Google Assistant, as well as other useful tools that you can use on your wrist. Google’s Fitbit is more than a tracker for steps. Fitbit devices such as the Fitbit Sense allow us to look at our whole health.
3. Garmin Venu 2 Plus
The best smartwatch for fitness tracking
Garmin Venu 2 is already a great fitness tracker smartwatch. It’s a stylish smartwatch that can be used as a workout companion or lifestyle gadget. We think it’s one of the top Android smartwatches. The Garmin Venu2 Plus, priced at $449, offers voice assistants and on-wrist calling. The Venu 2 Plus retains Garmin’s reputation of accurate GPS and thorough fitness tracking, but is now more appealing to those who want their smartwatch as an extension to their smartphone.
Garmin is still missing a large third party app store and has remained adamant about LTE support. However, it is making a big step towards mastering smartwatches. The cherry on top is 9 days of battery capacity.
4. Fitbit Versa 3
The best Android smartwatch for sleep tracking
Fitbit Versa 3 is the best Android smartwatch for advanced sleep tracking. It’s the latest generation of the Fitbit Versa 2. On-board GPS is the most notable feature of the Versa 3. The Versa 3 can track your location even if you have your phone at home. You can also request a larger, curvier display.
The Versa 3 now has Active Zone Minutes, a motivational feature that helps you get motivated to work out. Active Zone Minutes was introduced with the Fitbit Charge 4 as a standard Fitbit device. It monitors your exercise time in the cardio, fat burning, and peak heart-rate zones. You should aim to achieve the AHA’s 150 Active Zone minutes per week. You can also use your Fitbit Versa 3, to make phone calls or speak with voice assistants for questions, but you can only have one assistant enabled at a time.
5. Garmin Forerunner 245
The best Android smartwatch for runners
The Garmin Forerunner 245 sports watch is a great choice. It has a precise GPS, a long-lasting lithium battery, and can track multiple types of workouts. The Forerunner 245 syncs with your Android phone and can send or cancel emergency notifications at the touch of a button. This will give you peace of mind no matter where you go.
Garmin Forerunner 245’s small size and lightweight means it won’t feel heavy while running or uncomfortable while wearing it every day. It also has the same fitness metrics that Garmin’s newer GPS watches, including Training Status to track progress and Training Load to view workouts over seven days. Training Effect measures anaerobic as well as aerobic. It can also track your menstrual cycle, sleep, stress and blood oxygen saturation. Garmin also offers the Forerunner 245 Music Edition, which has onboard storage of up to 500 songs and syncs seamlessly with Spotify and Deezer accounts.
6. Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 Classic
This is the best Android smartwatch with a traditional feel
The Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 Classic is still the best smartwatch available for people who prefer a more traditional design, despite the Galaxy Watch 5 being released. The ‘Classic” version of the watch has luxurious features, including the rotating bezel that can be rotated (starting at $349.99).
The Galaxy Watch 4 Classic has a 3-in-1 health sensor that measures heart rate, ECGs, and determines body composition. It’s a great accessory for Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 Wear OS, and it pays homage to Tizen. You should note that some features are only available to Samsung users. This means that not everyone will be able to benefit from the Galaxy Watch 4.
7. Amazfit GTR 3 Pro
Amazfit has the best Android smartwatch
Amazfit Watches are a popular choice, particularly the Amazfit GTR 3 Pro. This smartwatch is the brand’s most expensive yet. While we would prefer it to have more features for the price (no NFC), there are plenty of health and fitness features. The GTR 3 Pro is a great tool to measure your heart rate, blood oxygen and stress levels in one reading. It has a higher accuracy than the Amazfit GTR 2.
The watch’s built in apps, hands-free voice controls, and menu layouts allow you to tailor the watch to your specific needs. This smartwatch is not from the most expensive connected wearables, but it has up to 12 days battery life.
8. TicWatch Pro 3
Wear OS will soon be available on a stylish Android smartwatch
Mobvoi is best known for its affordable smartwatches but has now expanded into high-end devices like the TicWatch Pro 3 which we enjoyed during our testing. The Snapdragon Wear 4100 platform from Qualcomm powers it, making it eligible for Wear OS and delivering better overall performance than the previous TicWatch offerings.
The TicWatch Pro 3 is a great smartwatch. It integrates with Wear OS and provides prompt, but not intrusive notifications. Although the activity tracking features are not as good as some of our top Android smartwatches, they will suffice for basic steps counting and sleep tracking. The TicWatch Pro 3 looks like a traditional watch. The TicWatch Pro 3’s large, 1.4-inch LCD display makes it easy to see at a glance. The new Wear OS update will make it even more attractive.

It’s better at the first task than it is at the second.
The Galaxy Watch Active 2’s round design is both visually striking and appealing in terms of looks. It comes in a 40mm or 44mm size. This Galaxy Watch is powered by Samsung’s Tizen operating platform and includes Samsung Pay, Spotify onboard music, and heart health features. This includes an ECG feature that is normally reserved for higher-end models.
