14 summer style essentials to have in your wardrobe
25.04.2022Depending on who you ask summer is either almost here or kind of near here. This means that it’s time for the all-important summer wardrobe.
It’s not your eyes that are deceiving: it is actually the sun peeking through clouds right now. Hurrah! Our sun-deprived skins won’t be pale and vitamin D-neglected anymore. We will be reunited with Aperol every time we need it.
While the return to something that even a little bit resembles summer is a good thing, our outdated and uninspired summer wardrobes are still to be celebrated. There’s a good chance that you are lacking key items to dress in the heat after two years of lockdowns and stop-and-starts.
Summer is all about enjoying bright, bold colours and not straying far from your comfort zone. No matter what season you choose, Hot Girl Summer, Cool Girl Summer, or my personal favorite Feral Girl Summer – it is important to pay attention to your long-suffering wardrobes. Have you ever bought a pair of eye-catching shades? What was the last time that you thought about slipping your toes into something other than trainers, boots or – gulp! – Crocs? What did you wear when the temperature was above 20 degrees Celsius? It was so easy to think.
We decided it was time to refresh our summer style. It’s like school, but fashion is far more fun and less tedious. We’ve collected the essential items every fashion expert has in their wardrobes for summer styling to help you see clearly and keep your style on point. You’re welcome.
- Reformation Cello dress
Don’t buy a bunch of boring frocks, instead focus on quality. This midi skirt in a pistachio tone is begging to be worn out in the sun.
- Rhys the Twisted Chunky Hoop Lady
No matter the season, you are only as fashionable as the hoops that hang in your ears. These solid gold hoops by Catch Rhys, an east London label, are the best.
- St. Agni fine knit tank top
You’re wrong to think you know everything about the plain white T-shirt. It is now replaced by the more sleek plain white tank top. This timeless classic is a must-have in every fashion insiders’ wardrobe.
- Missoma x Le Specs Hydrus link oval sunglasses
You read that correctly: Missoma, the jewelry brand known for its bling, just released sunglasses in time for summer. For a range of shades, the London label has teamed up Le Specs, a cult sunnies brand. Thank you so much for each one.
- With Nothing Underneath Boyfriend linen t-shirt
Summer is all about linen shirts. Style-conscious women wear linen shirts in the warmer months with baggy shorts and wicker baskets, as well as picnics.
- Kurt Geiger Orson sandals
You say it’s cool, chunky, and comfy? We don’t mind sharing our thoughts. Now is the time to pamper your feet before you let them shine in Kurt Geiger’s forever dad-inspired sandals.
- One-piece Swimsuit by You Swim Aplomb
A swimsuit in summer has two distinct qualities that are chameleon-like. They can be worn with shorts, skirts, or even a tank top. You can kill two birds with one stone.
- Asos Design wide-leg linen trousers
You’ll love your linen flares. They are easy-breezy, comfortable and will last you a lifetime.
- Rogue Matilda Jessica bag
The British coast. It’s amazing, for all its flaws, to be able, to take a stroll along the coast, grab a beer, read a book, and then, once the sun sets, to have everything in a fashionable mega bag. This rainbow woven number is the epitome of summer style.
- Freedom Moses Angie slides
Summer slides like you’ve never seen before Freedom Moses, a Tel Aviv-based brand, is promoting slides that are equally cool and comfortable. We (and the rest in fashion) are sold. The best part? Asos will soon be carrying the brand’s name.
- Martha Calvo Make Your Magic Necklace
Fashion lovers know that more-is-more jewellery can be their secret weapon in the warmer months. Put on the most bling and let it speak for you.
- Cos straw sunhat
It’s hot and it’s sunny, so don’t forget your sun hat. For the best seasonal style, embrace this nostalgic woven topper with a glass Aperol in your hand.
- Ganni leopard linen canvas coat
Linen coats provide a great antidote for the mild summer breezes that can turn warm days into cold nights. Ganni’s animal print linen is a great way to add some pattern to your warm weather wardrobe.
- River Island white broderie smock gown
A floor-sweeping maxi dress can be a great seasonal choice, but none is more perfect for this time of the year than ones made from broderie.
