TikTok Star Arrested By FBI Because of the Sneakers
31.08.2022It’s unlikely that the FBI would be full of sneakerheads. But you’d be shocked. Knowing how to recognize a sneaker’s unique footprint and identify a valuable shoe can make all the difference in whether you get your man or let him go.
This is an example: “FBI agents were investigating a series armed robberies in Michigan when they spotted an aspiring TikTok star dancing in what investigators called his “stick-up sneakers,” The Detroit News reports.
After identifying the Nike sneakers Chozen TerrellHannah wore in several of his videos and a series of violent robberies in Metro Detroit, the FBI arrested him.
The 22-year old had been on a three month-long crime spree. He was wearing a black hoodie and a ski mask, as well as white Nike React Presto sneakers. He carried a Glock 23 pistol that was chambered in.40 S&W.
Police were alerted by a tip and decided to investigate the Snapchat account @Chozenn_One. Someone should have disabled their Snap Map. Investigators discovered that the account’s username had been changed to “ChozenWrld”. They then connected the TikTok profile using the same name.
Terrell-Hannah was also wearing the Nike sneakers in several TikToks, some dating back to 2020. We’re not sure if you thought TikTok dances were very cringeworthy, but we think they pale in comparison to the embarrassment Terrell-Hannah is probably feeling now that he has been stung by his sneakers in those videos.
This isn’t the first occasion that criminals’ sneakers have led to their capture. Richard Ramirez, also known as “The Night Stalker” or “The Walk-In Killer”, was a serial killer who was active in the 1980s. He was convicted in 1989 of 13 counts of murder, five attempted killings, 11 sexual assaults and 14 burglaries. His distinctive sneakers were also responsible for his capture.
Police were able to identify Ramirez’s footprint using his Avia sneakers, which helped them connect him with many of his crimes.
