What to pack for summer holidays in Europe
15.06.2022You’re lucky to be making the big trip to Europe for the European summer. It’s a place I treasure. After packing for it several times, I have mastered the art of packing to avoid lugging around heavy bags to other parts of the globe. Here are some tips to help you pack for your European summer trip.
Dress up
Europeans are known for their amazing fashion sense and love to dress up. It’s a great way to use up the more expensive pieces I don’t wear very often in my country. If you have a cocktail dress you love, you can wear it with flats or sneakers in the summertime in Europe.
Invest in Aussie brands
Australia has beautiful resort wear that is unlike anything else on the planet, so make sure you take advantage of this and add some Australian pieces to your travel collection. Brands like Bondi Born, Camilla, Aje, Bridge, and Bec and Marc are favorites of mine. I will always take a dress, swimwear, or cute separates from these brands with me.
Consider versatility
I believe in packing light so I will always keep a close eye on what I bring. If I bring dresses, I make sure it is a dress that I can wear during the day with sandals or slides and then dress it up at night with heels or other dressy accessories. This applies to any separates that I bring. Everything must serve more than one purpose.
Separates for packing
Because I can make multiple outfits using a handful of pieces, I prefer to have separates. So that I don’t have a top that I can only wear with one pair of shorts, I make sure everything is in harmony. Co-ord sets can be used for this purpose as well. They look great together, but they can also be worn separately.
Multi-purpose bags are a must!
I don’t like having too many bags so I only bring one crossbody bag. I can either wear it with the straps across my body, or I can tuck them in and use it for a clutch. A basket bag is another option that works well for me right now. I love the versatility of the wicker/straw bags, which can be worn both day and night.
Don’t wear heels!
It’s likely that you’ll be walking on cobblestone streets. So, leave your stilettos at the door. It’s almost impossible to walk on cobblestones in high heels night after night without sustaining injuries. You can bring wedges or a pair of beautiful flats or slides. They are also much more comfortable.
Pack fun accessories
Accessory are a small but effective way to change the feel and look of an outfit. My watch, Cartier bracelet, gold coin necklace, and my engagement ring are all essentials. But I also like to pack a few accessories to add some fun to my look when out. Statement earrings are a great place to start, as they can elevate any outfit. Bracelets are always good for stacking. To stack with my coin necklace, I often bring a shorter necklace. Accessory are a great thing to bring, they’re small but pack a big sartorial punch.
